While Long Reach's win against Marriotts Ridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lightning won by a set and slipped past the Mustangs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lightning have posted since September 17, 2024.

Long Reach was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (107-102), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 27-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-10.

Machela Weaver paced Long Reach's offense, picking up 13 kills. Weaver got some help from Evalyn Ordonez and her 20 assists. Ordonez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Long Reach's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Marriotts Ridge, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Long Reach will take on Mt. Hebron at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marriotts Ridge, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Old Mill at 5:30 p.m. on the 21st.
