Rodriguez has gone 9-1 against Fairfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. Rodriguez is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Rodriguez is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs last Wednesday, they were much more limited against Vanden last Friday. They lost 9-1 to the Vikings.
Rodriguez saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alanna Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fairfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Florin a 25-0 shutout last Friday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won four games by 20 runs or more so far this season.
Karli Robinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI.
In other batting news, Fairfield got a massive performance out of Kaya Lanzon, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Lanzon launched this season. Madylin Micheli was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Fairfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Rodriguez has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Fairfield, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Both Rodriguez and Fairfield just can't seem to miss. The Mustangs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Fairfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
