Basketball Recap: New Albany's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

If New Albany was feeling good fresh off their 94-53 takedown of Evansville Harrison on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell 75-65 to the Plainfield Quakers on Saturday. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Quakers 20-14 in the first quarter.

Plainfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Smith, who shot 71% from the field to rack up 24 points and eight boards. The matchup was Smith's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Harper Baker-Lands was another key player, going 10-for-16 en route to 27 points and six rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, New Albany fell to 2-1. As for Plainfield, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Albany will take on Floyd Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Plainfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Martinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
