Softball Recap: Vardaman Comes Up Short

If Vardaman was riding high fresh off their 17-5 takedown of Winona last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Vardaman lost 16-1 to the South Pontotoc Cougars on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost seven in a row.

Vardaman's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for South Pontotoc, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: South Pontotoc beat Vardaman by a score of 18-1 later that day.
