It was a good run, but HCYA unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 9-2 to the Houston Christian Mustangs. HCYA was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Houston Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March.
Taegan Lermann was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Lermann was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Lermann wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Yanaia Scott, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
HCYA's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-10. As for Houston Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season.
HCYA will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Evangel Christian at 9:00 a.m. HCYA's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Evangel Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Houston Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
