Top 10 storylines heading into National Signing Day

For high school and college football fans, the early signing period has taken a large chunk of luster out of National Signing Day.

But there's still loads of intrigue. In fact, here are 10 top storylines heading into Wednesday first day of the regular signing period.
Remarkably there are only seven of the top 100 national recruits, according to 247Sports, who have not committed or signed to their college of choice. Those seven and the prospect of their choices make up the next seven storylines.

2. Darnell Wright, Huntington (W. Va.)
The 6-foot-6, 320-pound tackle is the No. 10 recruit overall in the country. According to 247Sports, Wright is all but locked to Texas, with Alabama a distant second choice. West Virginia, North Carolina and Clemson are other choices.

3. Jerrion Ealy Jackson Prep (Jackson, Miss.)
The 5-10, 200-pound running back and No. 29 recruit seems destined for Clemson, but Ole Miss and Mississippi State are other considerations for the 5-star standout.

4. Henry To'oto'o, De La Salle (Concord, Calif.)
The 6-2, 230-pound first-team MaxPreps All-American has given very little indication where he's going, but most think he can't resist Nick Saban at Alabama. Washington, Tennessee, Utah and Oregon are other top contenders for the No. 44 recruit.

5. Ishmael Sopsher, Amite (La.)
The 6-4, 334-pound defensive tackle, first-team MaxPreps All-American and No. 47 recruit likely will stay close to home at LSU, but Alabama is closing hard.

6. Kaiir Elam, Benjamin (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.)
The 6-1, 182-pound cornerback also figures to stay at home with Florida, but Georgia is close second choice. Other possibilities for the No. 48 recruit are Miami, Colorado and Auburn.



7. Charles Moore, Louisville (Miss.)
The 6-4, 268-pound defensive end and No. 69 recruit is definitely staying South. His five three choices in order are Auburn, LSU, Florida, Florida State and Georgia.

8. Mark-Antony Richards, Wellington (Fla.)
A sheer athlete, Richards looks a lock to pick Auburn, but Miami and Florida are in the mix for the No. 90 recruit.

9. Locked and loaded
A stunning number, 86 of the top 100, have already signed letters of intent, meaning there are only seven with verbal commitments. Before the Class of 2018, college coaches had to worry throughout the day of kids flipping. Not so these days.

10. Rolling on
With 28 recruits, 24 of them of the 4-star variety, Alabama is in the No. 1 spot for 2019 recruiting team rankings, according to 247Sports. If Wright and To'oto'o end up signing with the Crimson Tide, Alabama will secure the No. 1 spot for the eighth time in nine years. Last year, Georgia broke a seven-year streak held by Alabama, which dropped to No. 5. Georgia is currently No. 2 in the 2019 rankings, followed by Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.
