Baseball Game Preview: Bowsher BlueRacers vs. Southview Cougars

The Bowsher BlueRacers will head out to take on the Southview Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bowsher is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.

Bowsher's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Rogers 14-0. The BlueRacers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Kyle Schropp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Donovan McClellan was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Nate Reynolds was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Bowsher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rogers only posted an OBP of .300.

Meanwhile, Southview fell victim to Clay and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.

Bowsher's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Southview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Bowsher suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Southview when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the BlueRacers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
