Preview: Trinity Christian Crusaders vs. High Point Christian Academy Cougars
Trinity Christian has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the High Point Christian Academy Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Trinity Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 393 points over their last seven matchups.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Trinity Christian had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Asheville Christian Academy, posting a 63-7 win at home. Considering Trinity Christian has won nine matches by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, High Point Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap two weeks ago as they fell 20-14 to Covenant Day.
Although High Point Christian Academy took the loss, they still got scores from David Roberts and Benny Limbacher.
Even if they lost, High Point Christian Academy's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Josh Smith.
Trinity Christian has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 45 points. As for High Point Christian Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2.
Trinity Christian came up short against High Point Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2015, falling 12-8. Thankfully for Trinity Christian, De'shaun Taylor (who threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
