Football Recap: John Hudson Wingard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wetumpka over Saraland + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wetumpka can now relate to. They lost 49-24 to the Saraland Spartans on Friday. The Indians have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Wetumpka's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Hudson Wingard, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Charlie Skipper was another key signal caller, throwing for 223 yards and two TDs.

Saraland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deshawn Spencer, who picked up 169 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. With that strong performance, Spencer is now averaging an impressive 100.6 receiving yards per game. Jamison Roberts also helped with two TDs in total.

Wetumpka's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Saraland, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Wetumpka does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Saraland, they will face off against Spain Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Spartans 8.5, the Jaguars 14.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
