Basketball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

Eastern and Lewis Cass squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Eastern had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Lewis Cass Kings 47-14. The Comets just can't catch a break and have now endured eight losses in a row.

Marly Coan was Eastern's leading scorer, having posted six points. Coan also led the team in rebounds with 12.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lewis Cass to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aftin Griffin, who posted 13 points and three steals. Griffin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Mylie Sipe was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points.

Eastern's defeat dropped their record down to 1-24. As for Lewis Cass, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.

Eastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lewis Cass, they will face off against Manchester at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Manchester has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
