Continental hasn't had much luck against Paulding recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 10:00 a.m. Continental is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Continental was able to grind out a solid win over Miller City, taking the game 6-2. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Gracie Homier made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs.
In other batting news, Kimberly Grant was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Becca Sullivan, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
Hicksville typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Paulding proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Aces with a sharp 11-5 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Continental, Paulding also got a great game from a two-way player: Tia Mendez. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Mendez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Cadence Schwab was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Civil Pumphrey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Paulding hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.
Paulding's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Continental, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Continental has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Paulding struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Continental might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Paulding in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
