Softball Recap: Deerfield Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Deerfield dropped their record down to 22-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Johnson Creek Bluejays. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bluejays this season, with their most recent loss being a 6-2 defeat back in April.

As for Johnson Creek, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 18-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For Johnson Creek's part, Tori Buglass spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, Taylor Buglass was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Lainey Benz, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Deerfield and Johnson Creek should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Demons (ranked 92nd) will meet Columbus (ranked 276th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Johnson Creek will face off against Cambridge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (63 vs. 327).
