Baseball Recap: Carroll Comes Up Short

Carroll was the 5-4 winner over King when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers fell 7-2 to the Mustangs on Tuesday. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Mustangs since on Tuesday.

Carroll got a good showing from Cornell Cabrera, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Cabrera has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carroll saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Saenz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Niko Caballero was another, going 3-for-4 with one double.

Carroll's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-20. As for King, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 6-17-1 record.

Coming up, Carroll is taking a road trip to square off against Corpus Christi Moody at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for King, they will be playing at home against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
