Softball Recap: Smithfield-Selma Comes Up Short

Smithfield-Selma fell victim to Clayton and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 19-0 to the Comets. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost nine in a row.

Smithfield-Selma's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Clayton, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Smithfield-Selma and Clayton will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Spartans see the field they'll take on Knightdale at 5:00 p.m. on the 13th. As for Clayton, their break will end when they face Garner at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th.
