Baseball Game Preview: Mount Morris Blue Devils vs. Letchworth Legends

The Mount Morris Blue Devils will head out to face off against the Letchworth Legends at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mount Morris is looking for their season's first win.

Mount Morris couldn't beat Hornell on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the second inning. The Blue Devils came up short against the Red Raiders, falling 21-5.

Mount Morris saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Canary, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Letchworth got themselves on the board against Warsaw on Tuesday, but Warsaw never followed suit. They blew past the Tigers 22-0. The Legends haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Brody Whalen, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Justin Mann was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mount Morris' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Letchworth, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mount Morris has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Letchworth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Mount Morris might still be hurting after the 24-3 loss they got from Letchworth in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
