Preview: Wakefield Trojans vs. Wisner-Pilger Gators
The Wakefield Trojans's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wisner-Pilger Gators at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Thursday.
Wakefield's 21-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They suffered a tough 56-34 defeat at the hands of Lutheran-Northeast on Thursday. Wakefield was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-21.
Wakefield's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacob Borg, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and Anthony Valenzuela who scored nine points. Borg continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Wakefield struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Wisner-Pilger, who are still winless after their seventh match. They had to suffer through a rough 70-36 loss at the hands of Arlington.
Wakefield's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Wisner-Pilger, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7.
Wakefield strolled past Wisner-Pilger in their previous meeting back in February by a score of 64-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wakefield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
