Basketball Recap: Selma Piles Up the Points Against Montevallo

With a playoff win on the line, Selma rose to the challenge on Monday. They breezed by the Montevallo Bulldogs to the tune of 76-18. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Selma's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jykierra Oliver led the charge by going 12 for 20 en route to 27 points along with 12 assists and 12 steals. The contest was Oliver's third in a row with at least ten points. Rod?Neisha Parker was another key player, going 13 of 32 on her way to 29 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals.

Oliver wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Selma was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Selma's record now sits at 18-3. As for Montevallo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-25.

Selma will be playing in front of their home fans against Jemison at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Selma is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season. Montevallo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
