The Wheeling Park Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Robert C. Byrd Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The last five games Wheeling Park has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Wheeling Park is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Weir, who was ranked 14th at the time (Wheeling Park was ranked 13th). The Patriots narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Red Riders 7-6. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Red Riders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Harmony Bittner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, London Fankhouser was excellent, firing off two home runs, three runs, and one double while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylah Cunningham, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Wheeling Park lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They are 5-1 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Robert C. Byrd won against Grafton on Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Eagles' way against Fairmont Senior as they made off with an 8-1 win.
The victory got Wheeling Park back to even at 10-10. As for Robert C. Byrd, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 6-8.
Wheeling Park beat Robert C. Byrd 13-9 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
