Basketball Recap: Lee County Comes Up Short

Lee County lost against Richmond back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lee County Yellow Jackets received a blow as they fell 76-60 to the Richmond Raiders. The Yellow Jackets were down 62-42 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Lee County lost, don't look at Jayden Hill. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points. What's more, Hill also racked up four rebounds, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Adam Mclean, who went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points.

Jay Hamilton was a one-man wrecking crew for Richmond as he went 12 for 17 on his way to 28 points. Amer Morrison was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 11 points.

Lee County's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Richmond, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lee County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hoke County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season. As for Richmond, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Pinecrest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Richmond also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 60.2 points per game.
