Baseball Game Preview: Hanover-Horton Comets vs. Michigan Center Cardinals

The Hanover-Horton Comets will square off against the Michigan Center Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Hanover-Horton came into this matchup off a tough seven-run loss on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Onsted by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Comets have suffered since April 22, 2024.

Hanover-Horton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Denig, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Michigan Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 10-1 to Lumen Christi Catholic.

This is the second loss in a row for Hanover-Horton and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for Michigan Center, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Michigan Center's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hanover-Horton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. It's a different story for Michigan Center, though, as they've only averaged .271. Will they be able to contain Hanover-Horton's hitters?
