Baseball Recap: Oroville Wins Going Away Against Waterville

Oroville hadn't done well against Waterville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Hornets blew past the Shockers 13-3. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Tucker Accord was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with six stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Reese Noel was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Owen Wills, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Oroville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waterville only managed four hits.

Oroville's win bumped their record up to 7-1-1. As for Waterville, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Oroville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Shockers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
