Softball Game Preview: Reedsville Panthers vs. Mishicot Indians

Reedsville is 1-9 against Mishicot since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Panthers will host the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Reedsville has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Reedsville came up short against Valders on Saturday, falling 11-1. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clare Delsman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Mishicot unfortunately witnessed the end of their 17-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Oakfield by a score of 3-1.

Kiran Sanford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Mishicot saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zaida Strupp, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Reedsville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Mishicot, their loss dropped their record down to 17-4.

Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Reedsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Mishicot struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Reedsville suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Mishicot in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
