Softball Recap: Sentinel Takes a Loss

Sentinel extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-8 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Capital Bruins. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bruins earlier this season, when they won 15-0.

Makenna Thorson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Haley Sellers, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Capital, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Sentinel since April 28, 2022.

On Capital's side, Madi Emmert was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Miller, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sentinel will take on Big Sky at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Capital, they will face off against Great Falls at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
