Volleyball Recap: Elkin Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Elkin can now relate to. They fell just short of the Murphy Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Buckin' Elks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Elkin actually scored more points across those five sets (100-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-21, 18-25, 25-16, 14-25, 15-13.

Murphy found their leader in sophomore Saddie Cornwell, who had 17 digs and one assist. Cornwell is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Elkin's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Murphy, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Elkin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Murphy, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Cornerstone Charter on the 21st.
