Baseball Recap: Nanih Waiya Extends Winning Streak to Four

Nanih Waiya waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Columbus Falcons 13-6. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kade Massey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Nanih Waiya is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise. Massey was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden McDaniel, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Nanih Waiya is undefeated when McDaniel posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-10 otherwise. Caysen Dewberry was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Nanih Waiya pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Columbus, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.

Nanih Waiya will be playing at home against Eupora at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Columbus, they will head out on the road to challenge Noxubee County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
