Recap: Del Rio Rams vs. United Longhorns
The Del Rio Rams lost against the United Longhorns back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Del Rio was outmatched by United at home and fell 45-14. While losing is never fun, Del Rio can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 741st, while United is ranked 359th).
Despite the defeat, Del Rio saw an underclassman step up: Fermin Rodriguez rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown.
Atzel Chavez Jr. was his usual excellent self, throwing for 275 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Christian Saldana was another key contributor, picking up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Del Rio has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for United, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Del Rio will take on Alexander at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alexander will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for United, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Laredo LBJ at 7:30 p.m. Laredo LBJ is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
