Baseball Recap: Cowan Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wapahani, Cowan was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Winchester Community Golden Falcons a 1-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Gentry Groves, who gave up just six hits to keep Winchester Community off the board. Groves also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cowan is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

Cowan has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Winchester Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cowan will host Muncie Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Winchester Community, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Centerville at 6:00 p.m.
