Basketball Game Preview: St. Anthony Saints vs. St. Monica Mariners

The St. Anthony Saints will head out to challenge the St. Monica Mariners at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Anthony is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season.

St. Anthony lost 79-53 to Bishop Montgomery on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Knights are ranked sixth).

The losing side was boosted by Jordyn Washington, who posted 18 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kadence Lloyd, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, St. Monica hadn't done well against St. Mary's Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. St. Monica snuck past St. Mary's Academy with a 47-41 win.

St. Anthony has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for St. Monica, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which somehow still isn't as good as their 18-5 record this season.

St. Anthony didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against St. Monica when the teams last played on January 14th, but they still walked away with a 64-58 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Anthony since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
