Volleyball Recap: Sedgwick Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Sedgwick took on Moundridge on Tuesday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Saturday.

Sedgwick started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 12-25, 25-22, 25-12.

Despite the loss, Sedgwick saw an underclassman step up: freshman Briella Steventon had 14 digs and two assists. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Steventon.

Sedgwick's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-3. As for Moundridge, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Sedgwick wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Inman on the 9th. Hopefully Moundridge paid attention to the Cardinals' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Cardinals on Saturday.
