Cheyenne took a four-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Somerset Sky Pointe, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Desert Shields sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Eagles on Monday. Even though Cheyenne got in a bit of trouble with the refs ( Manuel Ontiveros was handed a red card), the team managed to overcome the adversity.

Cheyenne hit Somerset Sky Pointe with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Juan Rodriguez (3), Ontiveros, and Daniel Montes.

The win made it two in a row for Cheyenne and bumps their season record up to 3-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored seven goals over those two matchups. As for Somerset Sky Pointe, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8-1.

Coming up, Cheyenne will be playing in front of their home fans against Cimarron-Memorial at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Somerset Sky Pointe, they will head out to face off against Shadow Ridge at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Shadow Ridge's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
