Baseball Recap: Taconic Takes a Loss

The Taconic Thunder didn't have quite enough to beat the Apponequet Regional Lakers on Sunday and fell 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Thunder have lost by just one run.

Ed Ferris was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Taconic is 4-2 when Ferris posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Kyle McGrath also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Taconic and nudges their season record down to 11-10. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Apponequet Regional, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

While Taconic had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Monday.
