Softball Recap: Cheyenne Desert Shields vs. Sunrise Mountain Miners
If Cheyenne was feeling good fresh off their 27-5 takedown of Valley last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cheyenne Desert Shields came up short against the Sunrise Mountain Miners on Monday, falling 22-13. The Desert Shields were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Miners apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.
Cheyenne's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Sunrise Mountain, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4.
Cheyenne has already played their next game, a 17-0 defeat against Sports Leadership & Management on the 12th. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will take on Democracy Prep Agassi Campus at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Sunrise Mountain has given up an average of 19.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
