Soccer Game Preview: Piedmont Community Charter vs. Gray Stone Day

The Piedmont Community Charter Patriots will challenge the Gray Stone Day Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Piedmont Community Charter is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 goals on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Highland Tech on Thursday. They came up short against the Rams, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Piedmont Community Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Highland Tech are ranked 146th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gray Stone Day). They blew past South Stanly 11-1 on Tuesday. Gray Stone Day haven't had any issues with South Stanly recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Gray Stone Day's offense was hitting South Stanly from everywhere, as eight different players booted in a goal. Anna Morgan led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Gray Stone Day pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those four matchups. As for Piedmont Community Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-1.
