Volleyball Recap: Huntley Red Raiders vs. Hampshire Whip-Purs

Hampshire typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Huntley proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Hampshire Whip-Purs by a score of 2-0. The Red Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Whip-Purs, too.

Huntley easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-12.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Huntley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexandria Goritz, who had 12 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Mari Rodriguez, who had six digs and three aces.

Huntley couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 48% of their attack attempts. The last time their hitting percentage was this high was back in October of 2023.

Huntley pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hampshire, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-5.

Huntley has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Sycamore on the 11th. As for Hampshire, they will venture away from home to square off against Cary-Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampshire is facing Cary-Grove at the right time seeing as Cary-Grove is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
