Softball Recap: Tallmadge Wins Going Away Against Copley

Tallmadge barely beat Copley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Indians on Wednesday. Considering the Blue Devils have won six matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Larissa Taylor spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Leila Staszak, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Almond, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Tallmadge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Tallmadge pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Copley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tallmadge will venture away from home to face off against Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Copley, they will head out to square off against Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
