Basketball Preview: El Capitan Vaqueros vs. Mount Miguel Matadors

El Capitan hasn't had much luck against Mount Miguel recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The El Capitan Vaqueros are taking a road trip to challenge the Mount Miguel Matadors at 7:00 p.m. El Capitan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Mount Miguel likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, El Capitan lost to Steele Canyon on the road by a 72-55 margin. While losing is never fun, the Vaqueros can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1057th, while the Cougars are ranked 489th).

Despite the defeat, El Capitan had strong showings from Jason Wilson, who went 7-for-14 en route to 20 points, and Andy Gerardo-Novelo, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.
