Monroe Central is 0-3 against Cameron since April of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Seminoles will be playing at home against the Dragons at 5:00 p.m.
Monroe Central is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madonna.
Monroe Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caedyn Silva, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
26 must be Cameron's lucky number: they beat Hundred with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Dragons beat the Hornets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 26-1. Considering the Dragons have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Billy Patterson made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs.
In other batting news, Wes Starcher was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Cameron is undefeated when Starcher posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Kason Angel was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Cameron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Cameron pushed their record up to 16-10 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Monroe Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Monroe Central couldn't quite finish off Cameron in their previous matchup back in March of 2019 and fell 6-4. Can the Seminoles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
