Baseball Recap: Fletcher Comes Up Short

Fletcher might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Ponte Vedra who claimed the real prize. The Fletcher Senators fell just short of the Ponte Vedra Sharks by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Senators of the 7-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Zeke Stalnaker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four). Another player making a difference was Tucker Demsey, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Fletcher's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Ponte Vedra, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fletcher will host Bolles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bolles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Fletcher surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ponte Vedra, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fleming Island at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Ponte Vedra is facing Fleming Island at the right time seeing as Fleming Island is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
