Softball Recap: Hart Wins Going Away Against Hesperia

While Hart put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Hesperia. The Pirates blew past the Panthers 14-0. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Kelsey Copenhaver made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Copenhaver was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Caydence Bateson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Reese Smith was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Hart always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hart's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Hesperia, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hart will venture away from home to take on Onekama at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Portagers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hesperia, they will challenge White Cloud at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
