Basketball Game Preview: Spruce Mountain Phoenix vs. Madison Bulldogs

Spruce Mountain is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Madison is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Spruce Mountain Phoenix will welcome the Madison Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Monday, everything went Spruce Mountain's way against Leavitt as Spruce Mountain made off with a 59-34 win. Given the Phoenix's advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Hornets are ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, in Thursday's Canine Competition, Madison came out on top. They claimed a resounding 70-22 victory over Lisbon. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Madison's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Spruce Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.

Spruce Mountain beat Madison 36-27 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Will Spruce Mountain repeat their success, or does Madison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
