Baseball Recap: Cross County Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Cross County waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Bay Yellowjackets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Thunderbirds also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Knoa Roberts was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Cross County is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-7 otherwise. Roberts was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, Deacon Karnes was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kale Searcy, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Cross County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bay only managed four hits.

Cross County's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Bay, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coincidentally, Cross County and Bay will both be playing Rector the next time they take the field. The Thunderbirds will host the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Yellowjackets will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
