Baseball Recap: Ocean Lakes Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Ocean Lakes had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Princess Anne Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Dolphins, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Aiden Skalski looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Gocio, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Mais, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Ocean Lakes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Ocean Lakes' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Princess Anne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.
