Baseball Recap: Riverside Rams vs. Colville Crimson Hawks
Riverside extended their losing streak to nine on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They came up short against the Colville Crimson Hawks, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crimson Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Saturday.
Riverside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Jenkinson, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
As for Colville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10. The result was nothing new for the Crimson Hawks, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Colville's side, Kale Long spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. Long also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Crimson Hawks are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-9 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Luke Bateman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Colton Hansen, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
While Riverside had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
