Softball Game Preview: Gaston Bulldogs vs. Saks Wildcats

The Gaston Bulldogs will square off against the Saks Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Gaston is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Friday just wasn't the day for Gaston's offense. They came up short against West End on Friday, falling 15-0.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Saks faced off against Weaver on Thursday. The Wildcats took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bearcats.

Raina Zackary was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off four hits. Zackary was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ava Snead was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Saks has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Gaston, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11-1.
