Baseball Recap: Moreau Catholic Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

With a playoff win on the line, Moreau Catholic rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Ferndale Wildcats a 9-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mariners.

Aiden Perry made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Fabian Alvarez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Clendinen, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Moreau Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Moreau Catholic pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Ferndale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-5.

As of now, neither Moreau Catholic nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
