League recap: Lakeland stuns John Jay in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lakeland, who defeated 68th ranked John Jay, 20-6. Anthony capozzi ran for 80 yards and caught 4 passes for 64 yards in the win.

Peekskill was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from 11th to eighth in Section 1 A - 1. Earlier in the week, the Red Devils triumphed over Riverside 24-13.

Liam Daros threw for 226 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Daros put up the best numbers through the air as Brewster bested Gorton. Daros' favorite target this week was Kyle Catalano, who caught 7 passes for 193 yards.

6-foot-3 quarterback Brian Prunty of the Hornets is the league leader in passing yards this season with 793. He has also thrown 9 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Catalano. The Brewster star has 21 catches for 409 yards.

As it stands, the Indians are in second, while Greeley is in fifth.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when John Jay takes on the Quakers. Jimmy Clark's team has allowed 59 points this season, while Greeley has given up 67.

Panas extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Eastchester, 21-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
