Baseball Recap: Ojai Valley's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Ojai Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Hillcrest Christian Saints with a sharp 20-9 victory. The Spuds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by nine runs or more this season.

Ben Scordamaglia was a standout: he scored four runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Ojai Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Scotty Hatton was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-4.

Scordamaglia wasn't the only one making solid contact: Ojai Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The Spuds are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ojai Valley now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Hillcrest Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ojai Valley will challenge Cate on Thursday. The Rams will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Spuds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hillcrest Christian, they will host Sequoyah School at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Saints are facing the Gryphons at the right time seeing as the Gryphons are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
