Basketball Recap: Cassopolis Drops Season-High Score on Marcellus

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cassopolis). Everything went their way against the Marcellus Wildcats on Tuesday as the Cassopolis Rangers made off with a 71-49 win. The Rangers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Cassopolis to victory were Maddy Yakel and Ryley Bowsher. Yakel dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Bowsher posted 20 points and eight steals. Cassopolis is 6-1 when Yakel posts eight or more boards, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Boyer, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

The victory (which was Cassopolis' fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Marcellus, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Coming up, Cassopolis will venture away from home to square off against Hartford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Marcellus, they will host Bangor at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
