Preview: Highland Park Hornets vs. Farwell Steers
Highland Park has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Farwell Steers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Highland Park has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 327 points over their last seven contests.
Highland Park pushed their score all the way to 54 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to West Texas 58-54. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (32), Highland Park still had to take the loss.
Highland Park's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brady Thomspon, who threw for 529 yards and six touchdowns while completing 75.8% of his passes, and Elyes Torres who picked up 241 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Torres was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 69 yards. Benjamin Ho also helped out as he racked up 125 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last game, Farwell made sure to put some points up on the board against Sanford-Fritch on Friday. Farwell really took it to Sanford-Fritch for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-6 victory on the road. With Farwell ahead 33-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Farwell's victory bumped their season record to 5-2 while Highland Park's defeat dropped theirs to 4-3.
Highland Park was dealt a bruising 54-12 defeat at the hands of Farwell in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Highland Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
