Joshua Martinez was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Palmer Trinity let Michael Miraglia and Kevin Prieto run wild. Miraglia scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Prieto scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most runs Prieto has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tommy Barcinas Jr., who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Palmer Trinity was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Monsignor Pace, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Chaminade-Madonna a 5-0 shutout on Monday.
The result came thanks to Aiden Rivero's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Jonathan Vazquez and Jordan Young did most of the damage at the plate: Vazquez went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Young went 2-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Young hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rudy Marichal, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Palmer Trinity pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Monsignor Pace, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
